Project TL is now Throne and Liberty

Around 4 weeks ago, NCsoft released the following trailer for Throne and Liberty.

Throne and Liberty is what was previously known as Project TL which itself, was previously known as Lineage Eternal.  NCsoft has completely ditched the formers fixed quarter view isometric camera in favor of a movable 3D view (a good move IMHO), and will release it in both PC and console versions.  NCsoft says this is slated to release in the 2nd half of this year.  However, given how long this title has been in development hell with countless numbers of delay inducing iterations, hyping up this game would be a fools errand (there is no date yet for the KR beta tests).  I've been saying it since 2017 (stick a fork in it).

The last closed beta test for Lineage Eternal which occurred in November 2016, didn't go very well (the feedback was unsurprisingly poor since the beta lacked content and the game play revolved around swapping between your team of characters ala Genshin Impact); this is what led to the eventual sacking of the design team and rebranding to Project TL with a new trailer, and eventual radio silence.  Every year, some folks took what was mentioned during NCsoft's financial conference calls to put out clickbait about the impending closed beta test and release of Project TL; none of that panned out.

There are no guarantees with Throne and Liberty until we see an actual beta test (even if it is PR and marketing) live in order to get a feel for the game play and type of content.  I'm personally skeptical this is even close to release.  Furthermore, this is NCsoft.  I don't trust them with their business models or affinity for quickly killing a game once it launches when it doesn't meet their internal expectations.

That is pretty much why I didn't even bother to write my thoughts about this 4 weeks ago when they put out the trailer because we've seen this song and dance before.
